LEICESTER LIKELY TO BE RELEGATED - OWEN

The former Liverpool forward, Michael Owen, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2001, receives more than his fair share of stick on social media as a result of his opinion concerning the defending champions of England Premier League, but he never shies away from his point of view. If he has got what to say, regardless of the effect it might have on his popularity, he will say it, and fair play to him for that.

The 36-year-old came out back in February with a comment about Leicester City, who were flying high in the Premier League table on their journey to one of the most remarkable sporting triumphs in history of football.

Rooney was recalled to the starting line-up after an extended absence. He had a great opportunity to move closer to Sir Bobby Charlton’s record of 249 goals for Manchester United whenUnited were given a penalty. As the club’s designated penalty taker, Rooney was expected to step up and score with aplomb. This, however, was not the case as the striker allowed Paul Pogba to take the penalty instead.

Michael Owen enjoys Jose Mourinho ambitions

One of the things that frustrated Michael Owen the most about Manchester United’s previous manager Louis van Gaal is his lack of ambition as the Dutch coach was satisfied with just qualifying for a European competition and settling with either the 4th or 5th spot of the Premier League with no real desire to aim for something higher.

However, in the opening press conference of Jose Mourinho as the newly appointed manager of Manchester United, the Portuguese coach has clearly stated that he does not want to do the same as Louis van Gaal, he is not satisfied with the 4th spot and wants to push for something bigger and better.

According to the former Manchester United player, Northern Ireland will finish at the bottom of their group as they just don’t have what it takes to snatch good results.

Northern Ireland is competing in Group C along with Ukraine, Germany and Poland. The Irish outfit has played 2 matches and sustained 1 while also securing 1 victory. They are going through a better campaign than Ukraine which has suffered 2 successive defeats from their opening matches.

LIVERPOOL AMBASSADOR MICHAEL OWEN GIVES EUROPA LEAGUE TITLE TO THE REDS

Liverpool Ambassador Michael Owen has predicted that The Reds will lift the Europa League this season as they play Spanish side, Sevilla FC.

History suggests that Liverpool will move past Sevilla. Liverpool reached six semi finals in this competition and on each occasion they have progressed, they have gone on to win the trophy (1973, 1976 and 2001). Paul Scholes believes Manchester United need summer signings

The Premier League race has already finished as Leicester City came out on top and were crowned as the champions of England but the season still has not finished as there are teams which are competing trying to gather as many points as possible in order to avoid the bottom relegation zone while there are others that are attempting to snatch a Champions League spot or a Europa League one.

Manchester United still have a chance to snatch a Champions League position but even if they do manage to achieve this mission, this season still appears to be an underwhelming one for Louis van Gaal and his team as they were knocked out from the League Cup and from the Europa League.

The only piece of silverware that Manchester United can lift in this season is the FA Cup but they will have to overcome Crystal Palace in the finals on May 21st.

Michael Owen on Ryan Giggs at Manchester United

Michael Owen believes that Ryan Giggs will leave Manchester United if ever Jose Mourinho becomes the next manager.

Some pundits have pointed out that Giggs should be the next Manchester United manager because he knows the club inside out. But there are reports that Manchester United might have a tacit agreement with the Portuguese to manage the Red Devils next season.

However, Michael Owen believes that the task at hand can be beyond Giggs ability at the moment. He told the media that Giggs can one day manage the Red Devils but for the time being the team needs an experienced manager to take them out of their current problems. He believes that Mourinho has the necessary talent to put United back on track. He did not think that Giggs will stay as Mourinhoassistant and that he will be better off learning at another club.
