Former Liverpool player Michael Owen unveiled his thoughts concerning how things have been going out for Jurgen Klopp and what the German coach should concentrate on doing for the remainder of the season.
Michael Owen recommended Jurgen Klopp to forget about the Premier League and attempt to allocate all of his resources in way that could help Liverpool in lifting the Europa League which might be the only piece of silverware that Klopp secures in his debut season as the manager of Liverpool.
“This season is pretty much done, apart from the Europa League quarter-finals against Borussia Dortmund it is all about building for next season, when the manager needs to start delivering. Top four and trophies are what Liverpool should be all about and Klopp doesn’t need me to tell him that. In the end, he will probably be judged on the quality of the players he brings in and he needs to make sure he is in charge of recruitment.” Michael Owen said before Liverpool faced off with Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-final stages of the European competition.
Liverpool managed to defeat Borussia Dortmund with an aggregate scoreboard of 5-4 and they are now on their way to the semi-finals of the Europa League where Jurgen Klopp and his squad will have to play against Villareal on April 28 and May 5.
Owen’s playing career spanned for over 15 years and the majority of his time was spent performing in the Premier League. He hung up his boots back in 2013 and ever since then, he has been working as a pundit and commentator for BT Sport where he voices his thoughts and predictions involving anything in the world of football and Owen has recently talked about the possibility of Zlatan Ibrahimovic joining Arsenal.
For some reason, Owen can imagine Zlatan Ibrahimovic performing with Arsenal as Michael Owen said: “You think certainly with the size of him, he will be able to cope with the physicality. For some reason I can envisage him playing for Arsenal. He’s exactly what they need a big name forward. Fans have been calling it for ages. He’ll love it in London and that’s why I can see him coming to the Premier League.”
