OWEN BACKS DE GEA

Manchester United striker Michael Owen has come out in support of under fire goalkeeper David De Gea by saying that the press are too quick to dismiss the Spaniard.

David De Gea arrived at Manchester United for around £ 18 million from Atletico Madrid in the summer. Since then, he has become subject to many criticisms for the huge number of goals he has let in mainly due to clangers.

Even though David De Gea has been an extremely good shot stopper, he has struggled when it comes to crosses like every other foreigner playing in England for the first few months.

OWEN DELIGHTED HENRY IS BACK

Manchester United forward Michael Owen is extremely excited at the return of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry to his old stomping ground, and believes that the 34 year old’s return will not only help Arsenal to sustain their run at the top but will also reduce the stress on Robin van Persie.

The 31 year old Owen has been sidelined by an injury that has kept him out of action for almost two months now, but he is eager to renew his rivalry with the Arsenal legend when the two sides meet in the English Premier League.

FANS SHOULD BACK KEAN

Manchester United striker Michael Owen has said that Blackburn Rovers fans should be backing Steve Kean if they are looking to get out of the trouble.

Blackburn find themselves bottom of the table after the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday. It has led to an incredible abuse for their manager Steve Kean and to the owners.

There have been a lot of calls for his sacking, which have been going for a number of months now. However, it has taken a turn for the worse after the latest defeat at the hands of Bolton Wanderers.

OWEN OUT FOR 6 WEEKS

Manchester United's Michael Owen has been hit by another injury setback, which might keep him out of action until Christmas. The injury prone Manchester United front man, received yet another injury in early November in the Reds' Champions League match against Otelul Galati.

Owen was given a rare place in the starting lineup of the squad, but after only ten minutes, he was hobbling back off the pitch again with a thigh injury, only two minutes after Antonio Valencia’s opening goal in the eight minute. Manchester United went on to win 2-1.

OWEN: WE HAD TO WIN

Michael Owen insisted that Manchester United simply HAD to win in the Carling Cup against Aldershot - there was no other option.

Following their 6-1 drubbing by City (which Owen didn't play a part in), United were drawn against the Hampshire minnows in the League Cup. Whilst manager Sir Alex Ferguson changed the whole team around, it would have been another body blow to United had they failed to qualify for the Quarter Finals.

OWEN SIGNS NEW DEAL

Manchester United striker Michael Owen has now signed a new deal that will keep him at Old Trafford. The 31-year-old striker, whose deal was set to expire, had expressed his desire to prolong his career at Old Trafford.

"Delighted to be staying for another year. Thanks for all your messages," said the former Liverpool star on social networking site Twitter.

Owen spent much of the season on the sidelines at United, behind Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Dimitar Berbatov in the pecking order.

ERIKSSON NOT EXPECTING OWEN

Sven-Goran Eriksson has said that Leicester are not planning to sign Manchester United striker Michael Owen.

Several national newspapers have reported that the 31-year-old, whose time at Old Trafford has been beset by injury problems, is a target for the ambitious Championship club. A number of large free bets have also been placed on him moving on this summer.

However, Eriksson insists he has held no such discussions.

OWEN COULD MOVE TO EVERTON

Michael Owen could be joining Everton Football Club when his Manchester United contract expires in the summer.

The 31-year-old may have made his name wearing the red of Liverpool, but it is no secret he grew up supporting the Anfield club’s neighbours.

Currently of Manchester United, Michael Owen looks certain to leave Old Trafford in the summer when his two-year contract reaches an end.

And The People claim the Toffees are prepared to offer the striker a dream move to Goodison Park, a chance he is likely to grab with both hands.

OWEN PLAYS OFTEN

Michael Owen has chance to prove himself and has said that he deserve to play more games. Opportunities have been few and far between for Michael Owen this season with the 31-year-old starting just one Premier League game.
The former England striker, whose campaign has also been disrupted by a hamstring injury, has found himself behind Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez in United's pecking order.Ferguson knows Owen's goalscoring instincts could be a major asset as the season enters the crucial run-in, but he is unsure where he can squeeze Owen into his team.
