Manchester United forward Michael Owen is extremely excited at the return of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry to his old stomping ground, and believes that the 34 year old’s return will not only help Arsenal to sustain their run at the top but will also reduce the stress on Robin van Persie.
The 31 year old Owen has been sidelined by an injury that has kept him out of action for almost two months now, but he is eager to renew his rivalry with the Arsenal legend when the two sides meet in the English Premier League.
Henry, who left Barcelona to sign for Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls last year, had been training with Arsenal for the winter during the off season of the MLS and when there were signs that he might sign for the club on a short term contract, Michael Owen was one of those players who had supported Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and his decision to sign the talismanic Frenchman.
Writing on Twitter, Owen hailed Henry as one of the greatest players ever to have graced the English shores and played in the English Premier League and also praised his commitment to the Arsenal side that he led to many trophies during his stay at the club which earned him his legendary status with the fans of the club.
If I was to make a Premier League bet right now it would be that Thierry henry is a success
Owen, who is now under light training, hopes to be back before the next derby against Arsenal and he hopes that the once famous Henry – Owen rivalry will be renewed and add to the romanticism of the match.
