OWEN CANNOT WAIT

Muscle and The Stoke city striker Michael Owen has said that he cannot wait to get on the pitch once again after returning to full fitness following a groin injury that has kept him out of action for more than six weeks.

The former Manchester United and Liverpool striker was a free transfer this summer, but he has struggled with injury problems like in the past. He has managed just 51 min of action on the pitch for his new team, which have led to doubts whether he would stay at the Britannia stadium beyond the end of the season.

OWEN DESPERATE TO START

The Stoke city manager Tony Pulis has said that the new signing for the club Michael Owen is extremely desperate to start a match for the club, but has said that the former Manchester United and Liverpool striker is not ready yet.

Manchester United released the 32-year-old Michael Owen after the end of his contract. He has been without a club throughout the summer transfer window, but signed for Stoke city in the last few days. He is expected to once again link up well with the former Tottenham striker Peter Crouch, with whom he has a great partnership at international level.

Owen confident of finding new club

The 89 time England international has stated he is confident of finding a new employer following his release from Manchester United.

The 32 year old had a mixed time during his three years at Old Trafford, and although he enjoyed some success in his first season at the club, scoring 9 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions, over the following two seasons fell down the pecking order after facing competition from the likes of Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck, featuring only intermittently.

UNITED DEFEAT SHENHUA

Manchester United has defeated Shanghai Shenhua by 1-0 in a friendly match. The Japanese midfielder, Shinji Kagawa, scored the only goal in the match. He scored the goal in the 68th minute of the match. Kagawa could have scored a goal in the 61st minute of the match as well, but, Qiu Shenjiong, the goalkeeper of Shenhua, saved his powerful shot. The Shangai players missed a lot of opportunities in the match and looked a bit rusty.

OWEN GETS HIS CHANCE

Manchester United are looking at the prospect of recalling former Liverpool striker Michael Owen to the team after the injury suffered by Danny Welbeck means that United might have only one striker to field on the bench for the match against Swansea.

Danny Welbeck went down after a challenge from Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong. The tackle immediately drew a response from Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who then had a touchline spat with Mancini.

FERGIE BACKS OWEN TO PLAY

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he expects Michael Owen to play because of the remaining Premier league matches, as Manchester United look to win their 20th Premier league title.

Michael Owen is out of contract at the end of the season, while he has also not been fit for most of the season.

However, he has just resumed full training and is expected to be back in the first-team fold in the next few weeks. Only four matches remain in the Premier league this season and Manchester United hold a five-point advantage going into the season finale.

STURRIDGE AIMS TO EMULATE OWEN

Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge has said that he is looking to emulate the success strikers like Michael Owen and Alan Shearer have had in the past.

Michael Owen and Alan Shearer are regarded to be the two greatest strikers for England in the last 20 years. Daniel Sturridge is regarded to be a future talent at just 22 years of age.

OWEN ON HIS WAY OUT

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen is expected to be one of the departures from Old Trafford this summer after it has been rumoured that the striker has gone extremely desperate for first-team football.

Michael Owen joined Manchester United from Newcastle United on a free transfer, which raised a lot of eyebrows.
