Premier League legend Michael Owen has advised Manchester United against signing world rave of the moment Antoine Griezmann this summer.

Coach Jose Mourinho is widely expected to lure the French star to Old Trafford this summer, particularly with the injury to star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Youngsters Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford could support but United need a top proven striker to lead the attack next season as the club prepares to mount a serious title challenge. The player would cost the Red Devils a lot if his employers Atletico Madrid agree to release him.
The 26-year old could easily ask for United’s acclaimed wage ceiling of £300,000 per week but following reports by Football Leaks that Ibrahimovic was earning around £367,000 aside a £2.8 million goal bonus, the player’s agent would surely ask for more.
United have had an underwhelming season and Mourinho wants to quickly turn that tide next year. Griezmann is a top talent that can win games, hence the move.
“My concern is that Manchester United could go and spend £100 million on Griezmann and then what do you do with Rasford? Can you pin all your hopes on him and say he’s the number one, number nine?,” Owen queried.
Rashford has been key to United’s route to the Europa League final but Griezmann’s arrival could spell doom for him next season.
Atletico have options in the attack but following another barren season, they could hold on to their star and attempt another title chase. On the other hand, they are more of a selling side, so the big money could tempt the management.
