The Stoke City striker Michael Owen has said that he wants to end the huge jinx of not having scored against Liverpool since leaving the club many years ago.
Michael Owen came through the ranks at Liverpool and became one of the feared strikers in all of Europe. He then moved to the Spanish club Real Madrid in 2004, but he has not been the same ever since. Since his move away from Liverpool, he has played for the likes of Newcastle United, Manchester United, and currently Stoke City. In all this years, he has failed to score one goal against Liverpool.
It is a major concern for the striker, who signed for Stoke City on a free transfer after being released by Manchester United at the end of last season. He has played only about an hour for his new club is joining in August, but he has said that he is now fully fit and raring to go. Stoke City will be welcoming Liverpool to the Britannia stadium hoping to maintain their good run of form at home. The club has conceded only three goals at home all season and will be a formidable opposition for Brendan Rodgers' men. The 33-year-old Owen has said that he wants to score against Liverpool more than ever.
"Liverpool are a big part of my life and career and I had some of the best times of my life at the club. So certainly I have happy memories. I have not been so happy playing against them since; I have never scored and not particularly enjoyed it. We are on a nice run of form. Every game is tough in the Premier League, but there is no reason why we can't continue it," said the former Liverpool striker Michael Owen ahead of the Liverpool match.
