OWEN REVEALS FOUR TITLE CONTENDERS

Ex-Premier League striker Michael Owen believes that Liverpool will have to see off three teams to retain the league title they won last season. Liverpool became the Premier League holders after they won the trophy for the first time in their history to end a 30-year wait for a league title.

Owen spent the biggest part of his career as a professional footballer at Liverpool and he believes the club faces a bigger test to win the league title this season than what was obtainable last season when they romped to the title.

The retired player turned pundit was on BT Sports to talk about the English clubs in Europe last week and he also touched on the trilling race for the Premier League title. He also played for Manchester United during his career but the ex-England international didn't mention the Red Devils as one of the three clubs that could dethrone Liverpool as the top team in the whole of the Premier League at the end of this season. According to Owen, Manchester City plus the London duo of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are all capable of displacing Liverpool to win the Premier League title this season.

He believes the quartet of Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are genuine title contenders. The four teams are in the top six as things stand on the Premier League standings with Spurs leading the way at the top of the table after 11 games.
The North Londoners edged Arsenal 2-0 in the derby to secure their place at the league summit for another week at least. Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane were the goalscorers during the North London Derby clash played at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday evening. Spurs are at the top of the Premier League standings via goal difference from Liverpool in second place.
