Michael Owen confident on Crystal Palace

Former striker Michael Owen believes that Crystal Palace have the ability to take something out of the game against Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday. Alan Pardew’s team come on the back of an impressive away form, while Spurs have been very disappointing at home so far.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have failed to win at home this season, but the game against Crystal Palace is likely to see them build on the win over Sunderland in the last league outing. It finally ended a run of three consecutive draws at the start of the campaign.

Owen says that Crystal Palace have the potential to cause an upset since away teams have been performing extremely well in the first few weeks of the season. This is because a number of teams are now oriented towards counter-attacking style of football and playing away from home certainly suits this aspect. More importantly, Crystal Palace have had an entire week to prepare for this game while Spurs were involved in the Europa league against Qarabag. The victory against Qarabag with goals from new signing Heung-Min Son is likely to provide them with some kind of confidence. Still, Pochettino will be extremely unhappy with his team failing to keep a clean sheet.

"Spurs have struggled to beat Palace at White Hart Lane in recent years winning just one of the last six PL home games between the clubs. The Eagles have won both PL games on their travels so far this term and I don’t think they will leave the Lane empty-handed on Sunday," said Owen. Last season, Pochettino started extremely well at White Hart Lane and even then he was unable to see the club finish in the top four. This time around, other teams dropping points is likely to help Tottenham in the early stages of the campaign.
