Michael Owen Predicts Champions of England

Michael Owen, the legendary striker believes that Arsenal has all it takes to go all the way to clinch the title in May. The Gunners are currently sitting top of the Premier League table, leading second-placed Manchester City with 5 points after 17 matches. Owen thinks this time around they sure have the chance to get their hands on the premier league title with their consistency.

The Gunners dropped their first point at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday when they played out a 0-0 stalemate with Newcastle United. They have maintained this standard even without Gabriel Jesus, who they lost to injury at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

OWEN BACKS ARSENAL, OTHERS FOR WIN

Former Liverpool, Stoke City and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has backed the big boys to secure their place in the FA Cup fourth round after their respective third round ties.

Michael Owen backed the big boys namely Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United while he predicted the scoreline for some FA Cup third round ties on Bet Victor. Michael Owen is certain that Arsenal will get the better of Newcastle United in one of the all-Premier League clashes in the third round of the FA Cup.

The Premier League legend also backed Chelsea and Manchester United to get past lower league opponents in their third round ties.

OWEN DOUBTS UNITED TITLE BID

Michael Owen doesn't think former club Manchester United can win the Premier League title this season. The ex-England national team striker doubted the Premier League title credentials of Manchester United in a chat with the Daily Star.

According to Michael Owen, the current Manchester United squad is adept at counterattacking football and this could cause a lot of problems for the big teams but he doesn't think the current Red Devils squad is a well rounded team like rivals Liverpool and Manchester City, who have won the last three Premier League titles on offer between them.

Owens says Martial needs to be more consistent for Manchester United

Former Manchester United star Michael Owen believes Anthony Martial should be more consistent with his performances upfront for the Red Devils. The France international has experienced a mixed season for the Mancunian giants this term but he has still managed to contribute nine goals in all competitions.

Out of those, two came during the 4-1 league win over Newcastle United where he pounced upon the Magpies’ defensive errors but Owen still has question marks over the forward’s consistency. Speaking on Premier League productions, Owen said that the Frenchman needs to produce the same level of performances on a regular basis, he told: “I think when we talk about consistency, Martial would be the one you would label. If Manchester United were back and firing on all cylinders at the top of the table, I think he would be much more consistent as a player.”

Michael Owen praises Liverpool’s mentality under Jurgen Klopp

Former Liverpool star Michael Owen believes his former club could cruise to their maiden Premier League title due to the strong mentality of the players under Jurgen Klopp. The Reds missed out on the English crown by the solitary point to Manchester City last season but they made up for the same by winning the Champions League.

Still, a section of the supporters were deeply disappointed with the league setback but it appears that the club could bring them happiness in the current campaign where they are genuine favourites to win the league title after three decades. Speaking on BT Sport, Owen said that Klopp has instilled a winning mentality within the team, who have the belief that they are going to win the Premier League crown.

Michael Owen feels Carroll can make the difference for Newcastle United

Former Liverpool and Newcastle United star Michael Owen believes the return of Andy Carroll should provide a boost for the Magpies going forward. The England international rejoined the Magpies on a free transfer this summer and he only made his debut against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend after recovering from an ankle problem.
Carroll could not help the Magpies to find the winning goal in a 0-0 draw and he was still lively on the playing field during a 10-minute cameo, where he was hugely appreciated by the fans. Speaking on Premier League Matchday Live, Owen said that manager Steve Bruce would be delighted with the return of Carroll and believes the marksman should provide a lift to the team during the coming games.

“I think he would have been delighted to get Andy Carroll on as well. That would have been a relief,” he told after the goalless stalemate. “It is just that momentum. He doesn't have to do anything. Just him being on the pitch gives them a lift and for him to only play 10 minutes plus injury time was a big sigh of relief for the Brighton camp.”

Michael Owen backs Brazil to win the summer World Cup

Liverpool legend-turned-pundit Michael Owen believes Brazil are the front-runners for the summer World Cup with a better-balanced squad than some of their competitors. The Selecao suffered a shocking 7-1 semi-final defeat to Germany during the previous edition of the World Cup but Owen expects them to come stronger this time around with a great array of attacking talents at their disposal.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, he said: “They’ve two brilliant goalkeepers, they’ve got defenders, and they have that array of attacking talent with Neymar, Gabriel Jesus and Philippe Coutinho. France obviously have a lot of good players but I’m a bit sceptical about them in tournaments. Spain and Germany I also like, but Brazil would be my idea of the strongest team.”

Michael Owen: It Would Be Disastrous If England Fail To Reach World Cup Quarter-Final

Former England international Michael Owen believes it would be pretty disastrous if the Three Lions fail to progress beyond the round of 16 of this summer’s World Cup. England have been pitted against Panama, Tunisia and Belgium in their World Cup group and further progress could see them face one of Colombia, Japan, Senegal or Poland in the round of 16.

As such, Owen expects his country to at least reach the quarter-final stage and anything short of that could be been termed as disastrous, according to the former Liverpool star. Owen told Gulf News: “I don’t see England within the top five or six to be honest. But they’ve been very lucky with the draw and even in the second round we’re playing against only an okay group, so in theory it would be pretty disastrous if we don’t get into the quarter-finals.We’ve said that before and got beat by Iceland of course.”

Michael Owen Raves About Liverpool Forward Mohamed Salah

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has praised the impact of Mohamed Salah ahead of the Reds’ Premier League outing at Crystal Palace this weekend. The Egypt international has already accumulated 28 goals during the Premier League campaign, and he now has the opportunity to score in 21 separate games, a record previously set by Robin van Persie and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking on BetVictor, Owen said: “Mohamed Salah has scored in 20 of his 30 Premier League games so far this season and he is only one away from the record set by Robin van Persie (2012-13) and Cristiano Ronaldo (2007-08).That statistic shows vividly what a tremendous impact he has had on the Premier League in just his first season as a Reds player.”
