Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen has questioned the mentality of the players at his former team after the second half collapse against Manchester City when the two teams met in the Premier League this weekend. Michael Owen talked about the latest Manchester Derby clash while he was on Premier League TV. In his pre-match reaction, Michael Owen questioned the commitment of the Manchester United and whether interim manager Ralf Rangnick can achieve much with the team between now and the rest of the season as the experienced German trainer has not been able to turn the fortunes of the Red Devils around since taking over in the last month of 2021.

Michael Owen was in the Premier League TV studios alongside ex-Manchester United teammate Paul Scholes and ex-Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure for analysis on the Manchester Derby.

Owen and Scholes were unhappy with the outcome of the latest Manchester Derby as their former team lost 4-1 to hosts Manchester City. On his part, Yaya was delighted with the quality shown by the City players as they lived up to the billing as favourites for the game.

Kevin De Bruyne proved to be the star of the show after he got two goals and one assist. His two goals came in the first half, while his assist was for Algerian international RiyadMahrez in the second half.

De Bruyne scored his goals either side of the United equaliser from former City player Jadon Sancho. He then provided an assist for the third City goal in the second half and the first of the two Mahrez goals. Mahrez added another one late in the game to complete a dominant scoreline for the Premier League holders.

With the win, City move six points clear of Liverpool at the Premier League summit though the Reds have a game in hand on the holders.
