Ex-Liverpool and Newcastle United striker Michael Owen has predicted the Premier League encounter between hosts Liverpool and Brentfordcorrectly. Michael Owen predicted an home win for Liverpool at the expense of the Bees and that was what happened as the Reds had too much quality for their opponents.

Michael Owen made his prediction for the Liverpool game in his column for BetVictor. According to him, he wants to see how Liverpool will cope without the attacking duo of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah who are at the ongoing African tournament in Cameroon. Owen went on to predict a 2-0 win for the Reds and he missed by one goal after the game ended in a 3-0 win.
Liverpool needed to win the game to close the gap on leaders Manchester City on the Premier League log. Manchester City had moved 14 points clear of the Reds after beating Chelsea at home earlier this weekend. Kevin De Bruyne scored the only goal for City with twenty (20) minutes left on the clockto move 13 points clear of opponents Chelsea.
West London giants Chelsea were in second spot before Liverpool faced Brentford in the league earlier on Sunday afternoon and they dropped to third spot after the Reds beat the London team at home.
Liverpool are now the closest challengers to the defending champions after the big win over Brentford. The Premier League newcomers pushed Liverpool closely in the first half until Brazil international Fabinho broke their resolve with the only goal of the first 45 minutes via a close range header. The Brazilian international scored the first goal of the game in the 44th minute beforesecond half goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and substitute Takumi Minamino wrapped up the win for Liverpool.
As things stand, Liverpool are now 11 points behind leaders Manchester City with a game in hand.
