Owen hails Steven Gerrard As The Best Player

Michael Owen has hailed Steven Gerrard as the best player after Zinedine Zidane. He has also said that Gerrard is one of the most talented and the best captain that Liverpool has ever seen and he is proud to have ever played with him.

Gerrard has played a vital role in Liverpool’s superb run this season and has helped them to maintain the number four spot. Liverpool did manage to occupy the number one spot till January but after a couple of losses they moved down to the fifth position. However their comeback has been strong and they have managed to secure the fourth place till now with a three point difference from Tottenham Hotspur who are currently in the fifth spot.

Owen has also appreciated the work of Brendan Rodgers who has adapted to the condition very well after he was appointed as the manager and he feels that Brendan’s decision to play Gerrard in a slightly deeper role in the midfield has worked wonders for the team.

Steven Gerrard scored the late winner against Fulham at Carven Cottage in the midweek game and was also clinical with his passes in the match against Arsenal where Liverpool managed to beat the Gunners 5-0 at Anfield. In a recent interview with Michael Owen the England superstar said that he was lucky to play alongside some of the best players in the world among which he named Gerrard, Manchester United’s Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney and Christiano Ronaldo.

He is happy with the way Liverpool is performing and strongly believes that they are the ones who will play in the Champions League next season. In a column in the Daily Telegraph he also mentioned that fact that the biggest compliment that he could give to Steven Gerrard was he is the second best to the legendary Zinedine Zidane and he also went on to say that Gerrard is getting better every day and this has been due to his continuous hard work and dedication for the team.
