Michael Owen can’t understand why Sadio Mane will leave Liverpool for Bavarian giants Bayern Munich. The ex-Liverpool attacker made this known on his Twitter account on Wednesday as he paid tribute to Mane and his contributions to the Merseyside club.

According to him, Mane was an outstanding player for Liverpool and he gave great service to the Premier League team. Michael Owen added that the African star will go down as a Liverpool legend.

Englishman Michael Owen is at a loss to the notion behind Mane leaving Liverpool for Bayern Munich. The German champions made a big transfer coup with the signing of the 30-year-old who had a year left on his last Liverpool contract.

Bayern Munich unveiled Mane as their new player on Wednesday having had his medical on Tuesday. The African star was signed in a deal worth €42m including €9m in add-ons.Liverpool will receive €33m in guaranteed fee, while €6m from the add-on fee is based on appearances, while the other €3m add-on fee is based on team and individual achievements.
Mane has signed a three-year deal at Bayern Munich until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Liverpool signed Mane from fellow Premier League side Southampton in the summer of 2016. He went on to become a key player for the Reds as they won several trophies including the 2019 Champions League trophy. He played a big part as Liverpool went all the way to final before beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 courtesy the goals from DivockOrigi and Mohamed Salah (spot kick). Mane was also a key player as Liverpool won the Premier League trophy for the first time in their history in the following season. Mane ended his last season as a Liverpool player with two major trophies. The Reds won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup trophies.
