Ex-Liverpool, Stoke City and Newcastle United striker Michael Owen was spot on with his prediction on the outcome of the Premier League clash between hosts Manchester United and Burnley.
In his column for BetVictor, Michael Owen predicted a win for Manchester United at the expense of the Clarets as he tipped them to bounce back from the lean 1-1 draw at the home of Newcastle United in their last league game before the Burnley game.
Michael Owen also predicted a 2-1 win for Manchester United, but the scoreline was 3-1 in favour of the home team.
Manchester United started the game against Burnley with a seven points difference between them and Arsenal in the fourth and final Champions League spot on the Premier League log and only a win would take the Red Devils closer to the Gunners in the race for Champions League football next season.
The Red Devils were able to get the win needed to move closer to the Gunners. The Old Trafford outfit scored three goals in the first half on the way to the home victory over Burnley. As a matter of fact, Manchester United and Burnley scored all the four goals in the first 45 minutes.
Scotland international Scott McTominay was one of the best players on the pitch and he scored the first goal of the game on eight minutes and the advantage was doubled in the 27th minute when Clarets captain Ben Mee scored an own goal. Manchester United then made it 3-0 eight minutes later through star man Cristiano Ronaldo. Burnley winger Aaron Lennon was given a rare start by manager Sean Dyche and he repaid the faith shown by him with the goal that reduced the deficit to two goals eight minutes before the half-time interval.
With the win, Manchester United are now in the top six on the league standings.
