Michael Owen doubts if Manchester United really needs Antoine Griezmann

For the past few weeks, there have been talks and rumors being spread around involving Antoine Griezmann with a possible summer transfer to the English Premier League club Manchester United.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the current top goal-scorer of Manchester United but his contract expires at the end of the season and if they are not able to clinch a UEFA Champions League spot for the upcoming year then Ibrahimovic won’t be truly motivated to extend his contract for another year in Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho is already looking around as to which player he can sign in the summer transfer window that can replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Antoine Griezmann is appearing to be an ideal candidate.

For the past 3 seasons, Antoine Griezmann has managed to find his way into the top 10 goal-scorers of the Spanish League and is rumored to have impressed Jose Mourinho.

However, according to the English pundit and former Manchester United Michael Owen has recently said that there might be better options out there.

““I think they’ve got enough options. Everyone is mentioning Antoine Griezmann but then what? Who’s going to play? You can’t pay tens of million and then what? You can have too many great players.I think they’ve got a good balance at the moment but they shouldn’t be complacent, they still have to look at the future and look who’s about because obviously Zlatan Ibrahimovic isn’t going to be around forever.” Michael Owen said.

Michael Owen feels that Jose Mourinho has enough talented players at his disposal that can fill in the gap that might be left with the possible departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial are all young players who appear to have a bright future ahead but they might take time to fully develop and start scoring goals at a consistent basis and Jose Mourinho can’t afford to wait that long.
