Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen says that he expects the Jurgen Klopp’s team to beat Arsenal this weekend.
The game between Liverpool and Arsenal is the highlight of this weekend with Arsenal making the trip to Anfield looking to revive their form. The gunners have suffered two defeats in the last three games, and their top four hopes has been hanging in the balance. Liverpool have also been experiencing troubled form in 2017 with the team only managing a solitary victory so far in this calendar year. This victory came against Tottenham are few weeks ago and it once again reiterated their strength when it comes to the top games.
Liverpool’s record against the top six has been imperious this season, and Michael Owen reckons that this good run will ultimately see Liverpool towards a victory. A win is also important for the Reds considering that they need to get back into the top four as quickly as possible.
Liverpool have the psychological advantage over Arsenal this season after having beaten the club 4-3 in the opening weekend. Since then, a lot has changed, but Liverpool continue to possess a leaky defence which could be a route into the game for Arsenal.
Liverpool come into the game on the back of a disappointing 3-1 loss against Leicester City in the midweek action. Arsenal, meanwhile, had a midweek game against Sutton United in the FA Cup."Liverpool need to bounce back after their loss at the King Power earlier in the week and it is worrying that four of their five league defeats so far this term have come against sides who kicked off in the drop zone.It is well documented that the Reds have a good record against the top sides, however, and I expect them to do the double over the Gunners having won at the Emirates on the opening weekend of the season," said Owen.
